Loaves and Fishes Volunteer Job Description

This volunteer will assist the Loaves and Fishes Team on the first Sunday of each month and other times during the year during specific food collections. There are also occasions when the team member will distribute items to congregants.

• Arrive at Sunshine Cathedral by 8:30am and plan to stay until 10:30am on the first Sunday of each month to greet congregants donating food and to assist with moving the food into a designated area.

• This volunteer should be flexible on Sunday mornings. Some lifting is involved. Must work well in a collaborative team environment.

Brown Bag Assembly Job Description

This volunteer will work with the Brown Bag Team on Wednesday mornings beginning at 7am and will work until assigned bags are assembled. This is generally one hour but may be slightly more depending on assignments.

• Read an assigned list of designated food items.

• Assemble the Brown Bags based on assigned food items.

This volunteer must be able to stand, to move small food items (usually weighing less than 5 pounds), and to place Brown Bags into boxes for distribution.

Must work well in a collaborative environment.

Brown Bag Community Delivery Job Description

This volunteer will deliver pre-made Brown Bags to various organizations located in eastern Broward County on Wednesday morning beginning at 9:30am or another time agreed upon by the volunteer and the Minister of Connections.

• Using your personal vehicle, drive to the various locations in eastern Broward County and give the boxes of Brown Bags to the recipient.

This volunteer must be willing to use their own vehicle to deliver boxes of Brown Bags. Some lifting is involved. Volunteer must be able to stand and move easily.

Food Pantry Ministry Job Description

This volunteer will work with the Food Pantry Team on Wednesday mornings beginning at 7am and will work until the Food Pantry is fully set for our clients. This is generally a two-hour assignment but could be more if the volunteer is willing.

• Prepare the Food Pantry’s various tables for our clients based on instructions from the Food Pantry Team Lead.

• Add additional items to Food Pantry grocery bags based on donated items.

• Assist with Pantry set-up by moving donated food and other items from delivered pallets.

This volunteer must be able to stand and move easily, lift boxes and bags of donated food up to 50 pounds. Must work well in a collaborative environment with the ability to make changes easily.
