Sunshine Cathedral Foundation

How firm a foundation…

A Welcome from the Foundation’s Chairperson

As Chairperson and on behalf of the Sunshine Cathedral Board of Governors (BOG), I would like to welcome you and thank you, for spending time learning about the Board and its objectives. In these ever-changing challenging times, the Missions of the Sunshine Cathedral and its involvement in the greater Fort Lauderdale area LGBTQ+ community are essential. We must continue to support the many needs of the Cathedral while only being able to do so with the financial help of those caring and compassionate people like yourself. To learn more about the BOG and our objectives, please continue reading.

Thank you again,

Dr. Rozen Patterson, Chairperson

Sunshine Cathedral Foundation Board of Governors

What The Foundation Supports:

The Sunshine Cathedral Foundation (SCF) a 501 C 3 recognized organization and its Board of Governors (BOG) is comprised of individuals actively engaged in the church and its missions. The BOG members come from diverse backgrounds which leads to broad thinking and support for the church. This group oversees the ongoing needs of the Sunshine Cathedral Campus.

One of the objectives of the Foundation BOG is to ensure the Sunshine Cathedral Campus, which is comprised of many elements, is serving the needs of our community and remains a viable element in the community for generations to come. Today from the food ministry to an element targeting young people experiencing homelessness called Sunshine Cathedral Pride House our community support has a broad reach.

Simply put, a hub of activity nearly 24 hours a day, be it spiritual, performing arts, support groups, remembrance center, source of food for those in need or simply a place to be at peace, the Campus is a hub of nonstop activity every day. Maintaining our Campus is more than just about bricks and mortar elements, think about Insurance, HVAC systems, roofing systems, windows, paint, plumbing, parking and continuous maintenance, etc., that need and require our mindful diligence to ensure our longevity in support of our community. It is about planning and being prepared as all these systems are put under strain and age in the tough South Florida climate.

Ultimately the elements need replacement once they have run their useful life. We have established ways to donate to the Sunshine Cathedral Foundation beyond the giving taking place during service. We welcome your involvement in and contributions to our programs. Contact us to learn more.

How You Can Help With Our Mission:

The Ambassadors Club Program: In this effort, we ask for donations to the SCF in the form of $500/person $1000/couple or as you can afford. The money collected goes directly to offsetting the expenses of maintaining the Campus. Today, we have several projects that have been prioritized in the form of:

  • Replacement of original windows and doors within the office area

  • Replacement of exterior lighting around the campus

  • Replacement of our campus security/monitoring system

In total, it is estimated that these three projects alone will cost upwards of $150,000.00. These projects had been earmarked for funding from a FEMA grant which had been approved but now the approval has been cancelled. To fund these three projects and be prepared for other repairs and maintenance work, we need to raise funds.

As a Thank You for joining our Ambassadors Club and helping to fund our priority projects before September 1, 2025, we will provide you with upgraded VIP status at three Center for the Performing Arts (CPA) sponsored paid performances per $500 donation. Event or Show VIP status entitles you to parking in the front lot, separate entrance to the show from the side doors, a drink of your choice and if the performers are available, a chance for a meet and greet after the show.

Please reach out to us to become an active donating Ambassador and qualify for the VIP statis at shows during the 2025-2026 season of the Sunshine Cathedral Center for the Performing Arts. We will reach out to you to select the shows you would like to have VIP status.

The Pillars Society Program: This effort is focused on end-of-life planning. For those individuals seeking to leave a legacy in our community you can do so by leaving directives associated with Sunshine Cathedral. You can through estate or trust planning, establish your final wishes and earmark funds to the Foundation or Church. Or you can work with The Our Fund Organization to establish how you would like your legacy to live on after you leave this world.

The Sunshine Cathedral Chapel of Remembrance

Columbarium and Memorial: You can secure a final resting place for your ashes within our peaceful garden area. Individuals or couples can make these arrangements by contacting Bishop Robert Griffin or SCF member Dr. Keith Muller.
