The Rev. Anne Atwell, DMin. serves as Minister of Connection at Sunshine Cathedral. Anne has been part of the Sunshine Cathedral community since 1997, serving as a Greeter, Usher, Board of Directors Treasurer and as Board Chair. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from Florida Atlantic University, a Masters in Divinity from St. Thomas University in Miami, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Boston University. The title of her Doctoral Thesis is “Rethinking Queer Theology Homogeneity: Holy Conversations for the Lesbian Community.”

Prior to coming to Sunshine Cathedral as full-time staff in 2014, she worked in several Corporate organizations as a Human Resources professional. Currently, Dr. Atwell oversees the work of the Sunshine Cathedral Deacons including Pastoral Care, Chancel Ministry, as well as the Sunshine Cathedral Food Sharing Outreach. She is a certified Group Facilitator with the National Social Workers Association and facilitates the Grief and Loss Support Group at The Pride Center at Equality Park. She has also been a guest lecturer at Florida International University as part of their Queer Studies Program and at Boston University’s School of Theology Anna Shaw Institute on Women’s Studies.  Anne and her wife, Amy Walker, reside in Fort Lauderdale.
